Who This Is For

Parents usually find us when something at home starts to shift.

Not a crisis. Just a pattern they can't ignore anymore.

"They understand it when you explain — but the test paper tells a different story."

This is the most common thing we hear. Your child nods along during homework, gets it right with your help — then scores 10–15 marks lower on the actual test. The gap isn't intelligence. It's usually one of three things: they can't choose the right method under pressure, their working steps are incomplete, or they fall apart when the question is phrased differently from what they've practised. These are fixable — but only if someone identifies which one it is.

"You keep telling yourself 'let's see how this term goes' — but it's been two terms and nothing has changed."

January: "Let's see." March: AL4. "Let's monitor." June: still AL4. July: start looking — classes are full. Most parents who come to us wish they'd started one term earlier.

"Homework that used to take 30 minutes now takes over an hour — with tears, frustration, or both."

P4 introduces abstraction. P5 covers 80% of the PSLE syllabus. The curriculum doesn't just get harder — it assumes full mastery of everything before it. If there are cracks in P3 foundations, homework becomes a nightly battle.

"The 'careless mistakes' keep piling up. You're starting to suspect it's not actually carelessness."

Wrong units, skipped steps, misreading "how many more" as "how many" — these look like attention problems. They're usually incomplete understanding disguised as carelessness. The fix for each is completely different.

"Word problems turn into 'I don't know what it's asking' — even though the Math isn't hard."

They can calculate, but can't interpret. They read the question three times, don't know where to start, and either guess or shut down. Most students have never been taught when to draw a model versus when to just calculate.

"They used to be fine at Math. Then P4 happened — or P5 — and suddenly everything slipped."

A child who was shaky on equivalent fractions in P3 will hit a wall when fractions become the foundation for ratio, percentage, and rate in P5. The drop feels sudden, but it's been building quietly.

"You've tried tuition before. It was worksheets, marking, repeat. The grade didn't move."

More practice only helps if the understanding is already there. If homework comes back with ticks and crosses but no feedback on why they got it wrong, they'll make the same mistake next week.

"Your child is already doing well. You're here because you want to make sure that continues."

Some parents want consistency — strong foundations heading into P5, P6, or Upper Secondary, so that when the syllabus gets harder, the confidence stays. That's a smart reason to start.

"They're keeping up in Secondary — but you're not sure they actually understand it."

IP and Express tracks move fast. Students learn to pattern-match without real comprehension. It works until A Math or Upper Secondary, when the gaps become impossible to hide.

If any of this sounds familiar, you're exactly who we work with every day.

We teach Math. Only Math. Nothing else.

While most tuition centres in Singapore spread across 5 or 6 subjects, we chose to go deep on one. Every textbook we write, every teacher we train, every lesson we refine — it's all Math. That's why we see patterns other centres miss, and fix problems other programmes can't.

Why Families Choose Our Math Tuition

We made some unconventional choices. They're exactly why our students improve.

We only teach Math. That's it.

While other centres teach everything, we chose depth over breadth. Our tutors don't "also teach Math" — Math is all they do. We've analysed every PSLE paper for the last 20 years and written 80+ textbooks and workbooks specifically for the MOE syllabus.

When your heart needs help, you see a cardiologist, not a GP. We're the Math specialists.

4–8 students per class. Every class.

Not 15. Not 12. Four to eight. The tutor notices when your child is confused. They get real-time feedback on their working. They get their specific questions answered — not someone else's.

This isn't a lecture hall. This is personalised coaching.

Former MOE teachers who've been inside the system

NIE-trained. Former MOE classrooms. They know the syllabus, the marking scheme, the exam patterns. They also know how children learn — not just what they need to learn.

Mrs. Eileen Toh · M.Ed (NIE) · B.A. (Hons) Education · Former MOE Teacher

Every lesson recorded. Every homework marked with feedback.

Missed a class? Rewatch. Revising before exams? It's all there. Homework isn't just "submitted" — it's marked with written feedback tracking patterns, so your child knows why they got it wrong, not just that they did.

No more "I don't remember what the teacher said." The lesson is always there.

Our Approach

How we actually help students improve

We don't throw worksheets at a problem and hope something sticks. Every student's progress follows the same disciplined process.

1

Identify the real problem

Foundations, interpretation, method choice, carelessness, or exam panic — we pinpoint which one.

2

Rebuild understanding

Diagrams, models, worked examples — until they can explain it back.

3

Train application

Guided practice, mixed questions, exam-style application.

4

Fix mistake patterns

We correct habits, not just this week's homework.

5

Stay consistent

Progress comes from steady teaching — not last-minute miracles.

From Our Founder

Success isn't just about scores. It's about confidence.

I once had a student who scored AL6 at PSLE. She had completely lost confidence in herself. Together, we celebrated small wins and made incremental progress. Within two years, she moved from G1 to G2, then G2 to G3. Today, she consistently scores A1.

That's why I started Genius Plus Academy 8 years ago — a specialist math tuition centre in Singapore built on one belief: every child can master Math if they have the right help.

"My goal is simple. I want your child to celebrate small wins every week — and I want those wins to build their confidence to do even better."

Results

We don't promise miracles.

What parents commonly notice after consistent lessons:

Fewer repeated mistakes

Stronger working steps

Less resistance at home

More willingness to try

Across cohorts, many students improve by around 2 AL grades over a year, with greater improvement over longer consistency.

Results vary by child. The process does not.

What Parents Say

Hear from families like yours

AL6 → AL2
"

From AL6 to AL4 in 6 months — I wish I had enrolled earlier.

My child was scoring AL6 for Math in P6 Term 1. We were desperate. The clear explanations and systematic teaching helped him improve to AL5 in Term 2, then AL4 in Prelims. The lessons use digital tools with different colours — neat and easy to understand. There's constant updates, recorded lessons, and so much support.

Exam Anxiety → Confident
"

The tutor truly helped my child overcome exam anxiety.

Before joining GPA, my son had major exam anxiety and barely passed his Math tests. The tutors helped him score 78 in Prelims. More importantly, he walked into PSLE feeling confident instead of terrified.

Linus Loo

Parent of P6 Student

AL5 → AL3
"

From AL5 to AL3 — and my child actually looks forward to lessons now.

My child made improvements quickly. The tutors follow up with feedback after every school exam. I can see the increased confidence — he jumped from AL5 in P5 to AL3 in Prelims.

Video Testimonial

"The children look forward to attending the lessons. They come back and they don't grumble. Perhaps she makes the practice of papers fun for the students."
"Most importantly, even after hours of Math tuition with Mrs. Toh, Ariel does not dread Math — and she feels more confident when doing the papers."

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Math Tuition

What levels of math tuition does Genius Plus Academy offer at Bukit Timah?

Genius Plus Academy at Coronation Plaza, Bukit Timah offers math tuition for Primary 1 through Primary 6 (including PSLE preparation), and Secondary 1 through Secondary 4. Our secondary programme covers both O Level Math and IP (Integrated Programme) Math. All levels are taught by full-time, dedicated math specialists trained under Mrs. Eileen Toh (M.Ed NIE, former MOE teacher).

How big are the math tuition classes?

All classes at Genius Plus Academy are kept small at 4 to 8 students maximum. This is significantly smaller than most math tuition centres in Singapore, which typically run classes of 15–30 students. The small class size allows our teachers to give individual attention, catch misunderstandings in real time, and provide targeted feedback during each lesson.

What makes Genius Plus Academy different from other math tuition centres in Bukit Timah?

Genius Plus Academy is a specialist math tuition centre that teaches only Mathematics — no other subjects. We use an in-house curriculum of over 60 textbooks and 40 workbooks written specifically for the Singapore MOE syllabus by our founder Mrs. Eileen Toh. Classes are small (4–8 students), all teachers are full-time former MOE educators, every lesson is recorded for student review, and homework is marked with detailed written feedback that tracks error patterns over time.

Do you offer primary math tuition for PSLE preparation?

Yes. We offer primary math tuition from Primary 1 through Primary 6, with structured PSLE preparation. Our programme uses a 5-step approach: diagnosing foundational gaps from earlier levels, rebuilding understanding through models and worked examples, training exam application, fixing recurring mistake patterns, and building consistency over time. Students receive 4 in-house textbooks per year (one per term), weekly homework with written feedback, and lesson recordings for revision.

Do you offer O Level math tuition?

Yes. We offer O Level math tuition for Secondary 1 through Secondary 4 students. Our programme focuses on building genuine conceptual understanding rather than rote memorisation, covering the full O Level Mathematics syllabus with in-house materials developed specifically for the Singapore curriculum. Classes are taught by experienced former MOE teachers in small groups of 4–8 students.

Do you offer IP math tuition?

Yes. Our IP math tuition programme is designed for students in the Integrated Programme at secondary level. IP students benefit from our focus on deeper problem-solving and conceptual understanding rather than just exam technique. The small class sizes (4–8 students) allow our teachers to adapt instruction to the faster pace and higher expectations of the IP curriculum.

Who founded Genius Plus Academy and who teaches at the Bukit Timah branch?

Genius Plus Academy was founded by Mrs. Eileen Toh, who holds a Master of Education (M.Ed) from NIE (National Institute of Education) and a B.A. (Hons) in Education. She is a former MOE teacher and the author of over 60 math textbooks written specifically for the Singapore MOE syllabus. All tutors at the Bukit Timah branch are full-time, dedicated math specialists — not part-time undergraduates — trained under Mrs. Toh's methodology.

My child makes a lot of careless mistakes. Can you help?

This is one of the most common issues we work on in our math tuition programme. What looks like carelessness is often incomplete understanding, weak working-step habits, or poor checking routines. We use error tracking, structured checking methods by question type, and consistent written feedback to fix these patterns. Because our classes are small (4–8 students), our teachers can observe each student's working in real time and address specific mistakes as they happen.

My child is doing well but I want to keep them strong. Is GPA still relevant?

Absolutely. Many of our students come to us not in crisis, but because their parents want strong foundations heading into P5, P6, or Upper Secondary. Structured math tuition helps maintain consistency — especially at known transition points (P3 to P4, P4 to P5, Secondary 1 to 2) when the syllabus gets significantly harder.

What materials do students receive?

All students receive our in-house textbooks and workbooks — over 60 textbooks and 40 workbooks written specifically for the Singapore MOE syllabus by Mrs. Eileen Toh. Students get 4 textbooks per year (one per term), each structured week-by-week with learning objectives, notes, worked examples, and exercises. Materials are updated regularly to reflect the latest exam trends and syllabus changes.

Where is Genius Plus Academy located in Bukit Timah?

Our Bukit Timah branch is located at Coronation Plaza, #03-30, 587 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 269707. It is approximately 2 minutes walk from Tan Kah Kee MRT station. The centre has covered parking for easy drop-off. We also have branches in Punggol, Pasir Ris, Upper Thomson (Kovan), and online via Zoom.

Can I try a lesson before committing?

Yes. We encourage all families to start with a trial lesson. See how we teach, whether your child responds to the environment, and decide from there. No obligation to enrol after the trial.

We're not the right fit for every family.

But if you're looking for thoughtful teaching, real feedback, small classes, and educators who treat your child's confidence as carefully as their grades — we'd be glad to meet you.
